There are certain days that feel like they already exist as a memory while you’re in them — soft light, champagne, the ocean just there in the background — and this was one of those.
We celebrated my sister’s engagement at the Sheraton Grand Mirage on the Gold Coast, and it really set the tone for everything. It’s one of those places that doesn’t need to prove anything — the light, the palms, the ocean just beyond — it already feels composed. Effortless, but considered. The perfect setting for an occasion like this.

The Setting
The Sheraton Grand Mirage is one of those rare hotels that feels like a destination in itself. Set directly on the beachfront, with its iconic white architecture and tropical surrounds, it naturally lends itself to a coastal, elevated aesthetic.
For an event like this, the venue does more than host — it frames everything.
Floor to ceiling windows allowed the space to feel open and airy, while glimpses of palms and ocean beyond softened the entire palette. It meant the styling didn’t need to fight the environment, it simply complemented it.

The Styling
My sister worked with Lavish Floral Design, and she perfectly delivered the brief.
Hydrangeas layered with orchids, soft whites and muted blues, with subtle gold accents woven through to warm everything slightly. And the sailboat detail — such a minimal, thoughtful nod to the setting, without ever feeling overly themed, as well as a special keepsake for the couple to take home.

The Dress Code
The dress code was colours of the sea, which set the tone from the outset. Soft blues, washed whites, hints of seafoam, nothing overly defined, just a shared palette that felt instinctive. It meant the entire afternoon carried a sense of continuity, where the setting, the styling, and what everyone wore felt naturally aligned.
I wore a beautiful Zimmermann dress with a soft, structured silhouette in a blue paisley that felt completely in sync with the setting. I paired it with a pearl beaded bag, which added to the mermaid feel of the outfit.
My sister wore the most beautiful Aje gown, styled with a pearl necklace — classic, feminine, and timeless, but still modern. It suited her and the day perfectly.

By late afternoon, we had drifted down to the beach for sunset.
The sky softened into pale blues and blush tones.
The whole setting was picturesque from start to finish.
